Kyberd Hill Chardonnay 750ml

$49.48 each
Mornington Peninsula

Description

Turramurra Chardonnay is wonderfully consistent but 2015 is absolutely one out of the box. The nose has a complex mix of citrus, including lemon and candied grapefruit, along with oak spice and dusted almonds. The palate has all of this plus the usual Turramurra white nectarine signature. It features fresh, mouth watering acidity and is long, seamless and beautifully balanced. It is a dead sexy wine. It is also a serious ageing prospect for those who can be bothered to lay down great Chardonnay.

About Kyberd Hills

Hello, Michael Kyberd here. I am a lucky man. I do what I love. Kyberd Hills is born out of my passion for wine, particularly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. But this may have never happened without Nicolette (Nee Hills) – these wines are part of a love story. I studied wine making with some wonderful people, Dan Hills being one of them. It’s a long story, if you ever meet me I would love to go into detail… I met Dan’s sister at her home in London on a visit to England. We tell people that you just know when you know. Within six months, Nics was living in Australia we were getting married. That was 15 years ago. I’ve now worked for over 20 years on the Mornington Peninsula as chief wine maker for a large Peninsula brand and then contract winemaker for some quite splendid customers. My love for Pinot and Chardonnay has grown. The Mornington Peninsula is one of the great places in the world to make these two varieties. The gentle, even autumns lead to grapes with fabulous complex flavours and high levels of natural acidity. Any chef will tell you that it is all about the produce. It would be our wish that you share this wine with those you love. Buy it now and drink it now, save it for a very special occasion or to lay down. Both the Chardonnay and Pinot will mature and build extra complexity for at least ten years. Kyberd Hills doesn’t actually refer to a geographical feature; it is simply both of our names. Someone once told us that Kyberd means dagger in Danish (Kyberd was Danish before it was English before it was Australian). Our icon represents a combination of precision and passion, of science and emotion, of knowledge and love. We hope you enjoy these first vintages of Kyberd Hills. (Website)
