Young sweet gorgonzola from Lombardy, Italy. It is said that the making of Gorgonzola is due to young Romeo, distracted by his lady-love, leaving the cheese curd to drain all night. While desperately attempting to mask his blunder, he mixed the morning curds through the previous day's batch. Weeks later blueing of the cheese was notices and Gorgonzola was made.
The blue vein & sweet characteristics of the cheese allows it to be enjoyed savoury or sweet. Gorgonaola Dolce' & porcini mushroom Gnocchi OR Gorgonzola Dolce & figs drizzled with honey for dessert.
