About Barambah Organics
Barambah Organics is a family owned company, based in QLD. The Campbell family have been farmers for many generations and were based around Murgon, in the South Burnett, for over 100 years. The name Barambah is the Aboriginal name for the region, and it means “western wind”. In 2006, amid the millennial drought, Ian and Jane Campbell decided to move the precious herd of 150 dairy cows, 400kms south west, to the Border Rivers Region. The initial property purchased was “Glenarbon”, which is 50kms east of Goondiwindi, on the picturesque Dumaresq River. The cows have thrived in this new location. The soils are deep in structure and are sandy loam alluvial. This soil type is ideal for organics and dairying. Glenarbon has 2kms of frontage to the beautiful Dumaresq River. This riparian area provides habitat for some wonderful birdlife, and other precious native species. Another dairy was then built at “Booba Sands”. This is located on the Macintyre Brook, twenty minutes from Glenarbon. There are now over 800 dairy cows across the two dairies. Further land has since been purchased to allow the cows to roam freely. There is now a total of 5,000 hectares of certified organic land, both east and west of Goondiwindi. All bull calves are reared at our most western property, “Minnel”, which is 50kms west of Goondiwindi. Organic grain is also grown on this property, to supplement the cows at milking time. (Website)
